Planning: Final casting sessions

The following video will contain some explicit language.

The video below shows the final casting session, to decide who out of the three actors where going to take the leading role. Although I already had an idea of who it was-Titus- as he already loved hip hop and he was a part time rapper, and drama student, I had to make sure that he wasn't timid and was convincing in front of the camera. furthermore I had to see how the others would do as they could actually be better than him.

The first of the actors to go was Brain Oblitey. As the actors where able to choose their own songs to perform, Brian chose to sing waves by Mr probz this was unexpected as this was an audition for a rap video. although he sang instead of rapping there where some positives as Brian managed to say in his role even in the close ups, and he was comfortable in front of the camera. Brian also managed to portray the emotions reflected in the song showing his performance skill as an actor. Although this was a good audition overall the fact that he chose not to do a rap song reduced his chance of being the leading actor, further more in the audition I was looking for more movement as the song they will be rapping to has a much faster beat.

The second actor to be next was Titus Goremucheche. he was the one I expected to be the best at this sort of performance. Titus's execution of lyrics, performance, style and confidence was what I was looking for. he presented himself with confidence and swagger, and fit the description of the sort of rapper I wanted. Titus stayed calm during close ups and pulled the camera around with him as he had various movement in his audition, which showed his confidence in his ability. Titus also illustrated the lyrics very well as he matched some of his actions to what the rap was saying. This was crucial to the story telling of the song and makes it easier for the audience to understand what he is saying. this evidently creates a connection with the audience as it means that they will always keep their eyes on him. making a more captivating music video.

The thirst audition was by Luke. at this point i was already confident that Titus was going to be the leading man in the music video. like Titus, Luke chose to do a rap song as he was more comfortable with this style compared to Brian. Luke also narrated the story of the song with movement like Titus but he did not do it with as much conviction. this just cemented the fact that Titus was the clear choice for the lead role. Luke's lip-syncing was not as well timed and as accurate as Titus but overall it was more convincing compared to Brian, meaning that he would likely be Titus understudy.
