Planning: Casting

For this task I will enquire the drama department for the actors which are going to be in the  music video. I feel this will be the best place to go first as these actors are used to performing and will not be timid in front of the camera, these actors will also be more professional in their approach to the task . Each actor will be asked to write a small paragraph telling us why we should pick them with a small profile. They will then be told if they have made it to the next stages of the auditions which will be the miming and performance task.

straight away we had to deny a large amount of the applicants as they didn't suit the ethnic target for the main characters which we needed in the music video.

                                  

 

I then came to a conclusion of the last five actors which where likely to be in the music video. all caters where informed on their roles and understood they all had to know two parts as they where all understudies to the man character.

Below are the three applicants with their application forms, for the actors which would then move on to the next stage of auditions and preperations.

Titus Goremucheche

Titus Goremucheche was the best candidate for the main role of chance the rapper, this was obvious from the start as he had the look of a rapper in the way he presented himself with confidence and swagger. He also had experience in front of the camera meaning he will not feel uncomfortable. the greatest advantage to having him was that he was a part time rapper, so when it came to the miming he could easily learn the words and perform, in a more realistic manner due to his experience, in contrast to some of the other candidates which where dismissed as they did not even listen to rap music. 

Munyaradzi Luke Madzudzo

The second actor which was a good choice for the back up was Munyaradzi Luke Madzudzo. he had experience as a dancer this meant that he would be able to perform with confidence. he specialised in street dance which is in close correlation with hip-hop music, meaning he will be able to produce a better performance as a background singer with is general presence as a performer. Munyaradzi also had a very flexible timetable meaning all I had to do was tell him the schedule and he would fit his time around it.

Brian Oblitey

Brian I the best candidate to be understudy of the Titus as he is a singer meaning he will have confidence in front of camera, the only reason why he is a backing singer and not the main character was because, he didn't rap like titus he only sang, meaning he has a slight disadvantage, in his experience rap and how to present himself as a rapper §style.

The reason for me dismissing the other candidates like, was because of their character rustics rather than their acting ability. The other applicants where either in to the wrong type of music meaning they wouldn't give the right type of performance which would relate to the music, or hadn't done something closely relating to this project, meaning they had no experience in this field. Another critical reason why I didn't accept the other applicants for these roles, was because they did not fit the ethnic characterises of the characters I wanted to poetry in the music video.

In the music video there is also going to be the artist family. This section of the casting was the easiest as i will just use the, actors real family. This is because in the video I will show thee artists pictures with him and his family, it will need to be the same people, in the picture as the video. another benefit to using the actors real family is that they will have a greater and more realistic bond which can ply improve the emotion and realise in the music video.
