Aspect ratio draft two

When Watching the footage I found that the black bards which I added where very blurry and did not have the sharp clean look which I wanted. To fix this problem I tried to sharpen the image but this had not positive effect.

I decided to do some research on the internet on how to get cinematic aspect ration in promier pro, and I found a website called whoismatt.com (Click Here to view) which provided a PSD file which you could down load and import in to premier pro. The aspect ration of the new black bars where  2:35:1.  when inserted the new bars where much cleaner and sharper when scaled to the right size.

The images below show some of the footage from the editing with the aspect ration.

The instructions on how to infall it are shown below.

Black Bars/ Changing The aspect ration

More and more Music videos are using the wide screen black bars in their music videos, and I wanted to use this same technique as it gives the music video a more tight clean professional look.

Below are some examples of music videos which use this techniques in the hip-hop genre.

The following two videos don't use this technique and I think they don't look as tight and concise as the videos above. al the videos above have a more cinematic effect making them look more professional.

I have decided to use this technique in my own music video. to do this is used the text creating tool and added the black bars with the black shape tool. The image below shows the the title creation page where I created the black bars, I used the guide lines which are shown in the image to map out where they should be placed.

When I placed the bars in to the footage I stretched then out so they would cover the whole music video, and I used them as a top layer so they would always be seen.

Editing

The editing process was very straight forward due to the planning and storyboarding which had took place before hand as I knew what it should look like. All the techniques and editing techniques which I was going to use had all be practised as well making this section of the production much quicker.

I started the editing with a base. This was a long video which was all one take, and I would dip in and out of that by adding shots on top of it. These clips where presented as shown below all the editing which I would do now would be based on theses clips. These clips where also synchronised with the audio to match any lip-syncing and dancing to the beats.

The next section of the editing was doing the beat blur for the fast passed section of the song.
this section was going to be the most tedious part of the editing process so it was key i did first to ensure I got it out of the way.

The video below shows how I completed this task.

Planning: Casting

I have chosen titus as my leading man. This means the next step was to find a suitable family for him to be with in the video. This decision was slightly more straight forward as I have decided to use his actual family. This will allow me to keep a more convincing an authentic connection between the actors as the love between them will be real. By doing this it will bring forward more natural acting and the actors will feel more comfortable together as a "Family".

                      Titus Mother                   Titus's sister 1                   Titus's sister 2
Edith Goremucheche         Moesha Goremucheche     Willow Goremucheche

First filming session

During the first filming session I managed to get the intro filmed and the first section of the music video. Below are some images of the filming session.

Planning: Intro

I have decided to add and extra section to the start of the music video. I want to do this because the actual song itself is very short. So I will increase the length of the video by adding an intro.

The video will now start with the artists and his friends in a studio, in preparation for a performance, in the theatre where the first section of the actual song will start. There will be some conversation between the artist and producers, talking about their journey during the making of this album, and after they will go down in to the theatre, and the lights will then go on.

This section will all be free hand camera work and will be very rough editing to make it seem unplanned, this will translate the emotion in the video better as it will seem unplanned and unrehearsed. This section of the video will also be in black and white, but with out the green effect.

Location for the first scene.

The is the room which I will use as the the studio. This room already has some of the equipment and props needed to make it like like this, meaning I will not have to hire or purchase any equipment.

Below are some of the equipment? props which are in the room which I will need to make sure I get in the shots, to ensure that the audience know that the room they are in is a studio.

Below is the light controls for the theatre.

Below are two sound controls

To keep this section looking as authentic as possible there will be no storyboard for this section. there is just a few things which I will need to make appear in this section, to ensure that the location is clearly established:

  • Lights being adjusted on light box.
  • There has to somebody adjusting the sound on the mixer
  • A shot looking down on to the stage.

Planning: Shot list-Interlude

This is the basic shot list for the filming of interlude. This list shows the requires sots to accomplish the project at hand. some of the shots are subject to change depending on the events which might come during filming, so i am prepared for flexibility if some shots do not work as planned. The following table details the shot number, location, actors with in the shot, shot type and a brief description of whats happening in the shot. This will allow any extras and actors on set to easily follow what is happening what what results I want from the shots.
